Force Protection Vehicles Mark More Than Two Million Hours in Combat

BusinessWire - January 25, 2007 9:00 AM ET

Force Protection, Inc. (NASDAQ:FRPT) today announced that its Buffalo and Cougar blast- and ballistic-protected vehicles have logged more than two million hours of combat operations in Iraq and Afghanistan since their initial deployment in 2003.

Due to their V-shaped steel hull design and cutting-edge blast protection technology, Force Protection's vehicles have established an unmatched record for troop safety in the face of thousands of attacks from improvised explosive devices (IEDs), land mines, and roadside bombs.

"This is an important milestone we mark today," said Force Protection Vice President for Program Management Damon Walsh. "It is representative of two important facts: first, that the vehicles are of the highest quality and are built to last; second, that our troops on the ground can count on them as the best possible defense against IEDs and other explosive threats. We are gratified to know that these vehicles are saving lives and are committed to making sure many more are available to protect our troops for millions of hours of combat operations to come."

Force Protection has experienced significant growth in the past year. The company presented more than 50 vehicles to the U.S. government in December 2006 alone, a 300 percent increase from vehicle deliveries in December 2005. With recently announced partnering agreements with other defense industry leaders such as Armor Holdings (NYSE:AH) and General Dynamics Land Systems (NYSE:GD), vehicle production is expected to increase even more dramatically.
